ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Doctor Olufemi Olaleye, the Medical Director of the Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of his wife’s niece.
This verdict was delivered by Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence on Tuesday.
Justice Oshodi ruled that the victim’s testimony and the medical professional who examined her were credible. He noted that Olaleye’s confession, along with the exchange of WhatsApp and email messages with his wife, served as substantial evidence against him.
According to Justice Oshodi, the victim was subjected to a horrifying assault and compelled to perform degrading acts, as indicated by the statement and undertaking Olaleye signed at Anthony Police Station, in the presence of his lawyer Olalekan Buruji and his NBA seal.

Oshodi’s ruling convicted Olaleye of defiling and sexually contacting a 15-year-old minor, establishing that the prosecution successfully proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt, with all the evidence aligning with the victim’s account.
Olaleye charged with a two-count charge of defilement and sexual assault by penetration of his wife’s niece, allegedly committed between March 2020 and November 2021.
The defendant was arraigned on 30 November, 2022, and had initially pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecution presented a lineup of witnesses, which included the defendant’s wife, who reported the case to the police, the underage survivor (whose name remains confidential), a child forensic specialist, Bisi Ajayi-Kayode, police inspector Esther Igbineweka, medical examiner Akinbunmi Oyebimpe, and police officer Abe Leonard. However, one of the witnesses was “withdrawn.”
