ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A group of five Governors within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Nyesom Wike, which includes four former Governors and one serving Governor, engaged in discussions with President Bola Tinubu late on Tuesday, according to reports obtained by Vanguard.
Sources indicate that the meeting began with a preliminary gathering at the residence of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja. Following this, Wike and his former colleagues headed to the Presidential Villa to meet with President Tinubu.
While specific details of the meeting were not available at the time of this report, which was filed at 10:45 p.m., it is understood that the primary agenda was to explore a working relationship between the president and the former Governors.

A source with knowledge of the meeting, who pleaded anonymity due to a lack of authorization to discuss the matter, said, “The G-5 PDP Governors first convened at Wike’s residence for a few hours before proceeding to the Villa to meet with the president.
“Although I don’t have the exact details of the discussion at the moment, the initial meeting at Wike’s residence revolved around accommodating the former governors within the political landscape and how they could collaborate.”
The source also highlighted the significance of the former Governors’ meeting with President Tinubu, especially considering its timing, occurring just 24 hours before the Imo State PDP governorship campaign in Owerri and the rising tension surrounding the position of the party Secretary.
The former Governors present at the meeting were Nyesom Wike, the immediate past Governor of Rivers State and current FCT Minister; former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom; former Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Abia State’s former Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, and the serving Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde.
