ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) staff members on Monday shut down their head office as they rejected the appointment of the new Postmaster General (PMG), Tola Odeyemi, by President Bola Tinubu.
Ms Odeyemi’s appointment was announced last week by Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesman, noting that the President changed the leadership of communication agencies, including NIPOST.
However, moments after the news of new CEO’s appointment broke, there were reports that Adeyemi Adepoju, the sacked Postmaster-General, had been reinstated.

In a viral video, Adepoju was seen addressing some workers who claimed President Tinubu had reappointed him.
NIPOST, in a separate statement, disclosed the reinstatement of Sunday Adepoju as PMG.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned Rt. Honourable Adeyemi Sunday Adepoju as the Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), citing Adepoju’s sterling leadership and excellent performance during his stay in office as the reason for his reinstatement”, a statement from NIPOST reads.
Some protesting workers who spoke with journalists on the condition of anonymity said Ms Odeyemi was appointed against their wish and, as such, cannot be allowed to assume her new role.
They called on President Tinubu to reverse the new appointment and maintain the reinstatement of Adepoju.
