LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A 100-level student of the Education Faculty of the University of Ilorin (Unilorin), has lamented sexual harassment by a staff in the institution, identified as Adeboye Balogun, AkA Platoon.
This disclosure was made in a post via the microblogging platform, X. The post read alongside screenshots of messages and pictures of the accused, “This is the paedophile molesting young and naive students in Unilorin. Demanding sex from a 17-year-old girl for Mark is taboo.
According to the victim, the suspect in question has been persistent and threatening her due to his influence and familiarity with lecturers in the said institution.
She said, “I am just 17 years in 100 level in the faculty of Education in Unilorin. His name is Adeboye Balogun, AkA Platoon. He is an Educationalist that has influence over students in the institution. He asked me to see him in his office outside school which is also an ijmb Centre. If you’re in Education in Unilorin, you’ll know this true.

“I am helpless and going crazy. Please anybody in Unilorin with same experience with this guy should help me plssss.
“He’s manipulating and threatening me after forcefully sticking his fingers in his office after so much persuasion and threats that if I don’t come to his office to discuss my grades, he has my matric number and would make me fail, he bragged about how he is connected to lecturers, all these things scare me alot.
“I am a virgin. I pushed him away and was faking a attack. He realized this and pushed me out and locked the door. Someone saw me outside crying and I told him everything. He took me to the Unilorin senate building and reported him. I can’t believe they didn’t take me serious, Nigeria has failed me, everything hurts, when did human beings become this heartless, even women.
This report is coming barely hours after reports of the Federal Government’s warning to members of the academia and the university community against sexual harassment on campuses across Nigeria.
FG gave the warning through the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, following the report of the committee on alleged sexual harassment by the Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Ndifon.
He said, “Sexual harassment is a serious criminal offence and must be dealt with decisively, when and whenever it occurs, adding that the Federal Ministry of Education will do everything humanly possible to turn the ugly tide in our institutions of higher learning.”
