ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Police operatives from the Enugu State Command have successfully dismantled a car-snatching and stealing syndicate, leading to the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of a stolen Lexus 330 Jeep.
The suspect, identified as Sunday Ogwa, a 27-year-old male from Obubra in Cross River State, was apprehended.
The operation took place on the evening of 2 October 2023 in the Awkunanaw Police Division, based on credible information, according to a press release issued by DSP Daniel Ndukwe, Police Public Relations Officer Enugu State Command, State Headquarters, on Tuesday.

The suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime, revealing that he had been recruited by his accomplices from Anambra State to participate in vehicle snatching and theft operations within the Enugu metropolis.
The incident involving the stolen light blue-coloured Lexus 330 Jeep occurred on 28 September 2023, when the suspect and his cohorts forcibly took the vehicle at gunpoint from a female victim in the Uwani area of Enugu.
Following the arrest, Ogwa will face legal proceedings once the investigation is concluded.
Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, commended the swift action and dedication of the police operatives involved in dismantling the syndicate.
He reaffirmed the Enugu Police Force’s commitment to maintaining a relentless campaign against unrepentant criminals operating within the state.
