LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA) – Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has made the decision to cancel the Independence Day celebrations in the state.

The event was billed for Sunday, October 1st 2023, to mark Nigeria’s 63rd year of independence.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Friday, the governor urged the people of the state to pray for the peace and prosperity of the country.

Governor Adeleke, recognizing the current difficulties in the nation, encourages state residents to seek divine guidance. However, the governor did not disclose the motive behind the cancellation.
