LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Police in Sokoto State have confirmed an attack in Giyawa village, Goronyo Local Government area in the eastern flank of the State.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ahmed Rufai, confirmed the incident, stating that “Four persons were confirmed dead, 18 persons abducted by the assailants who carted away other valuables including livestock.

“However, seven of the abducted victims later escaped and returned to their community where many residents have fled for safety.

“Police is on the trail of the assailants and are making effort to ensure normalcy is restored in the affected community and environment,” Rufai stated.

Though other sources in the affected community claimed that over 30 persons were abducted, the command maintained that only 11 persons were still being held by the attackers.
