LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Despite Manchester United’s readiness to sell Jadon Sancho for £65 million ($81 million) amid a dispute with manager Erik ten Hag, the player turned down all approaches.
Sancho was omitted from the United squad during their 3-1 loss to Arsenal, with Ten Hag citing his performance in training as the reason.
Sancho disputed this claim on social media, accusing his manager of making him a ‘scapegoat’ for the team’s poor start to the season.
Although he initially pinned the post to the top of his profile on X (formerly Twitter), he deleted it a week later.
According to The Athletic, Manchester United was willing to let the former Borussia Dortmund star go after his outburst while the summer transfer windows in Saudi Arabia and Turkey were still open.

Saudi clubs were informed that Sancho’s price was at least £65 million ($81.3 million), but the player and his representatives rejected the approaches to leave the club.
On 7 September, just before the Saudi transfer window closed, Sancho even traveled to New York with Aaron Wan-Bissaka to celebrate NBA star John Wall’s birthday.
The report notes that there had been no discussions between Sancho and Ten Hag prior to this, and many players not on international duty were given time off.
Sancho has yet to justify his £73 million ($91 million) transfer fee, which Manchester United paid to Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
In 58 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils, he has scored only nine goals and provided six assists.
In contrast, during his time at Dortmund in the Bundesliga, he scored 38 goals and recorded 51 assists in 104 games.
This situation comes at a time when United and fellow winger Antony have agreed that it’s best for him to stay away from the club to “address allegations” of assault made against him.
Manchester United is set to return to Premier League action against Brighton on Saturday, but it remains uncertain whether Sancho will feature in the game or if his time at the club is coming to an end.
