LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- China authorities have arrested two, identified as Zheng and Wang for allegedly piercing through the great wall with an excavator, to create shortcut.
According to reports, the duo smashed a path through a section of the ancient wall, in order to get a shorter route for some construction work they were doing in nearby towns.
The area of the breach was a broken-down section far from the restored segments most Chinese and foreign tourists are familiar with.

Youyu County Government said the arrests followed a report of the breach received on 24 August, adding that the two suspects are in custody with further legal action pending.
The great wall of China, overtime, have been referred to as a cultural icon and United Nations protected heritage site.
