LAGOS, NIGERIA (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Manchester United winger, has been dropped from the Brazil squad after allegations of assault against his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.
Brazilian publication UOL released a report on Monday featuring allegations made by Gabriela Cavallin. The report included images of her alleged injuries as well as screenshots of WhatsApp conversations between her and a person she claims to be Antony.
According to Cavallin, the incident occurred in June of last year while she was on vacation in Brazil and pregnant with their child.
She alleged that Antony forced her into a car, subjected her to multiple assaults and threatened to throw her out of the car at high speed.
Another alleged attack allegedly took place in Manchester on January 15 this year, which left Cavallin needing medical attention.

Cavallin told UOL: “I don’t remember exactly who the fight was about, but it was someone I had been with years ago. He punched me in the chest and my silicone [implant] turned over.
“Then I came to Brazil for surgery to change the prosthesis. He said: ‘I didn’t mean to hurt you, it was accidental, it wasn’t a punch, I just pushed you, I just held you against the wall.”
Antony denied the allegations in a statement released in June.
Following the latest developments, the Brazilian FA has confirmed that Antony will no longer be part of the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru. Instead, Gabriel Jesus will be taking his place in the squad.
The allegations are under investigation in Brazil and a complaint has also been made to police in Manchester.
Greater Manchester Police issued a statement Monday that read: “Greater Manchester Police is aware of the allegations made and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this report.”
