LAGOS, NIGERIA, (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The dream of most Manchester United supporters to see The Glazers family sell the club to new owners has suffered a setback.
Mail Sports confirmed on its official website in the late hours of Saturday, 3 September, 2023, that the owners have decided to take the Red Devils off the market.
This decision comes after their initial announcement in November 2022, where they had expressed intentions to sell either a majority or minority stake in the club while retaining a significant ownership position.

In the pursuit of acquiring Manchester United, only two potential buyers emerged as serious contenders: Sheik Jassim of Qatar, who aimed to secure complete ownership, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, whose proposal would have resulted in the Glazer family retaining a minority stake. However, sources close to both Sir Jim and Sheik Jassim revealed that they withdrew from the deal due to uncertainty regarding their positions in the negotiations with the Glazer family.
According to reports, the Glazer family is considering selling the club again in 2025. They believe that factors like financial growth and environmental changes will attract more potential buyers.
The Glazers are hoping for a higher price due to TV rights revenues, the expansion of FIFA’s Club World Cup, and the upcoming 2026 World Cup hosted in the USA. They aim to sell Manchester United for a price ranging from £7 billion to £10 billion.
