LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – YouTube Music is continuously enhancing its user experience by introducing new features. The music streaming platform is now in the process of rolling out live lyrics to all of its Android and iOS users.
This functionality closely resembles the live lyrics feature already present on Spotify for song playback.
While the initial discovery of this feature on YouTube Music dates back to April, it has now been broadly released to users. However, it’s important to note that live lyrics won’t be accessible for all songs just yet.
According to a report from 9to5Google, YouTube Music is progressively launching the live lyrics feature within its Android and iOS applications.
With this feature, the currently playing line of lyrics will be highlighted in white, while the remaining lyrics will be displayed in a subdued gray.

Independent confirmation of this feature’s presence on the YouTube Music app has been provided by Gadgets360.
To access live lyrics on YouTube Music, users can play any song that includes attached lyrics and then navigate to the Lyrics tab on the Now Playing screen.
The report further indicates that the live lyrics feature is becoming available on YouTube Music version 6.15 for Android and version 6.16 for the iOS app.
In cases where users cannot access the live lyrics, they can attempt to resolve the issue by force-closing the app through the Recents screen.
Nevertheless, it’s important to highlight that the live lyrics feature has not been activated for all songs at this time.
Consequently, users may need to exercise a bit of patience before they can enjoy live lyrics for their favorite tracks if the feature isn’t accessible yet.
This feature was initially discovered in April of this year. An earlier report indicated that live lyrics significantly increase text size and spacing compared to the static lyrics currently available on YouTube Music.
Recalling its history, the live lyrics feature was initially launched on Spotify in June 2020, limited to select countries, including India.
Subsequently, its availability was expanded to additional markets by November 2021.
