ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has commissioned the Distress Response Squad (DRS).
Uzuegbu Commissioned the squad at the Government House Enugu, during a working visit to the Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
This is as the squad sets out for duties with immediate effect.
Voiceofnaija.ng reported that Governor Mbah had in July, announced plans to launch the new security outfit, Distress Response Squad, as part of his effort and commitment to protecting lives and properties on Ndi Enugu.
He said the security outfit will take charge of the Enugu Urban security Patrol.

He said: “The first batch of patrol cars fitted with communication equipment already delivered.
“Dr Mbah has reiterated his commitment to protect the lives and properties of Ndi Enugu as New Security outfit set to Take charge of the Enugu Urban security Patrol.
“Soon, Enugu will be safe again from all criminal elements.”
CP Uzuegbu noted that this is the pilot phase of the scheme, as 100 vehicles would be procured in the next two months, for full swing operations, covering strategic flashpoints in the State.
The vehicles have security surveillance cameras with facial and plate number recognition, said the Commissioner of Police.

He added that the cameras are digitally linked to CCTV cameras at the command base in Government House Enugu.
“In case of any security issue, dial 117 and you would be attended to swiftly.
“Enugu State under Mbah’s watch is free from insecurity. All is advised to go about their businesses without fear. Your security is guaranteed,” he said.
