As part of this endeavor, the ban is scheduled to take effect from Monday, 14 August, 2023. After this date, any instances of commercial motorcyclists plying their trade on the streets of Umuahia and Aba townships will result in immediate impoundment of their vehicles by security personnel.
The State government has not only focused on vehicle impoundment but has also directed law enforcement agencies to apprehend any individual found contravening this order. He said stringent actions, including potential prosecution, will be taken against those who continue to defy the ban.
According to the statement, this move is expected to encourage the exploration of alternative modes of transportation, fostering a more secure and efficient travel experience for the citizens.
As the Abia State government takes this significant step towards enhancing public safety, residents and stakeholders are urged to comply with the ban on Okada operations in Aba and Umuahia.
