Kwara State government has reportedly received two truckloads of rice from the federal government as palliative.
The consignment, which contained 1,200 bags of rice, is part of efforts by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration to cushion the effect of the hardships going on in the country due to the fuel subsidy removal.
A statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, the chief press secretary to the Governor, in Ilorin, revealed that the consignment came on Thursday.
The statement said Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had directed the immediate distribution of the items to the less privileged through local government structures.

According to the statement, the Governor demands that various stakeholders, especially community-based groups and traditional institutions, be consulted to generate the list of the beneficiaries on a non-partisan basis.
The statement further noted that the government was still awaiting delivery of three more trucks of bags of rice to be distributed in like manner.
It said Mr Abdulrazaq expressed his profound appreciation to the federal government, especially President Bola Tinubu, for the kind gesture.
The Kwara government had earlier rolled out several palliatives to cushion the effects of the removal of fuel subsidies, including the ongoing e-process to give stipends to students.
