Nigeria’s Senate has approved all the ministerial nominees forwarded by President Bola Tinubu, following the conclusion of its screenings that lasted six days.
At the last sitting on Monday, 7 August, the Senate had a rowdy session while screening Festus Keyamo, the immediate former Minister of State for Labour and Employment.
The rowdiness was premised on the former minister’s refusal to explain how the funds allocated to the public works programme introduced by the then government in the heyday of coronavirus pandemic were spent.
A Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Darlington Nwokocha, had moved a motion for the suspension of the screening of Keyamo.

His motion was seconded by Enyinnaya Abaribe, the lawmaker representing Abia-South Senatorial District.
Akpabio thereafter subjected the motion to a voice vote but the legislators were divided on the matter.
Shortly after, Tinubu held a close door meeting with the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
In the latest development, the Senate has approved the 48 ministers transmitted by the president.
