Some Nigerians have reacted to the investigative report released by the Anambra State Police command over the death of a young lady identified as Chinyere Awuda.
Investigations carried out by the police reportedly show that Awuda who died in a club inside Cosmila Hotel in Awka, the Anambra State capital last weekend, drowned in the swimming pool where her body was found on 17 July.
Voiceofnaija.ng had reported that Awuda was allegedly beaten to death by some fun seekers at the hotel who accused her of stealing money sprayed on someone at the hotel who was celebrating a birthday anniversary.
However, a statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, says the pathologist that carried out an autopsy on Ms. Awuda’s body did not find any trauma marks on her to indicate that she was beaten to death. Ikenga added that the autopsy indicated that Ms. Awuda died from drowning.
‘’On 17th July 2023, the body of a young lady later identified as Miss Chinyere Awuda was found in an abandoned swimming pool within the premises of Cosmila Hotel located at No.10 Cosmila Close, off old INEC road by Regina Caeli Junction, Awka.
“It was alleged that the deceased was beaten to death by some persons who had an event at the hotel the previous night. She was accused of pilfering some of the Naira Notes allegedly sprayed on the celebrant.
