LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Pep Guardiola has reportedly issued a warning to Premier League opponents while praising Erling Haaland’s improved form and conditioning.
The Manchester City player scored twice as his team defeated Yokohama Marinos 5-3 in a preseason encounter, impressing Guardiola.
Guardiola praised Haaland’s increased fitness from the previous campaign and emphasized the significance of him scoring early in preseason to restore his rhythm and form.
Haaland had an outstanding first season in England, scoring 36 goals to break a Premier League scoring record.
However, his performance decreased near the conclusion of the year, so City could take heart from his early preseason goals.
Speaking to reporters, Guardiola said, “Comparing last season, that period. He is fitter, much better, than last season when he arrived.
“I know we would love to be like last season. He looks good, but he is still a way from the best condition, like everyone.
“So, most important for him was to score two goals in the first game, because last season in the last games, he could not score. Important is the rhythm, the principles, we are working with all the time.
“We know exactly what he has to do; we know him, and in a few weeks we will be in better condition than now.”
Haaland became one of the most sought-after players in the world of football last season because to his incredible goal-scoring performance.
Guardiola believes Haaland might be an even greater danger in the future season, so City’s Premier League rivals should take heed of his increased health and form.
He plays a crucial role in City’s championship defense because of his ability to routinely find the net.
The next game for Guardiola’s team is an exhibition match against Bayern Munich on 26 July.
