ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Obiageli Ezekwesili, a former Minister of Education, has urgently called upon the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, seeking a response regarding a circulating document related to the controversial EndSARS protest.
The document in question alleges that Sanwo-Olu approved a mass burial for 103 protesters who were purportedly massacred by a joint operation involving the Nigerian Army and the police during the October 2020 #EndSARS protest against police brutality.
This viral document has resurfaced nearly three years after the government denied any brutal killings of unarmed protesters, who were peacefully waving the Nigerian flag and chanting the national anthem at the Lekki toll gate, where the military allegedly opened fire on them.
Through a series of tweets from her verified Twitter handle on Sunday, Ezekwesili questioned whether the Governor was aware of the existence of a record documenting 103 deceased individuals from the EndSARS shootings, and she demanded an urgent response.

In a separate statement, Ezekwesili further expressed her concern over how the nation’s public leaders have devalued human life, describing it as the most wicked act they have committed against citizens. She stated her unease at the thought of the numerous investigations that sensible governments at both federal and state levels would be expected to launch in the near future.
Ezekwesili’s statement read: “Mr. Governor of @followlasg, @jidesanwoolu, here is a document that has gone viral on social media, stating that your government procured services for the mass burial of 103 corpses killed during the #EndSARS protest. Is this so? Did Mr. Governor actually know that the State had a record of 103 dead bodies from the #EndSARS shootings? We need your urgent response.
“I often shudder at the sheer number of inquisitions that citizens would, in the near future, expect sensible governments at federal and state levels to conduct all over this country.
“The gravest injustice that Nigeria’s public leaders have committed against citizens is reducing the dignity of human life to ZERO. They shall someday surely be held accountable, if not on earth, then in heaven before the Creator of Life.”
