LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – TikTok has added one more third-party app to the list of iPhone apps that enable passkey login.
With the ability to sign in using their passkey linked to their Apple ID, users of the well-known video-sharing service may now quickly access their accounts using Face or Touch ID.
Since passkeys are made up of a pair of cryptographic keys, they are seen to be a safer alternative to password logins.
The user’s device alone stores the private key; the other key is a public key that is linked to the website or service.
Passkeys are resistant to data breaches and social engineering by bad actors because apps and services like TikTok don’t have access to the private key, and users can’t copy it down or give it out.
Before comparing a user’s private key with a service’s public key, iOS devices use the biometric data from the user to verify the user’s identity for logins.
On TikTok for iPhones and iPads, users must have the most recent iOS installed on their device in order to use passkeys.

Apple saves passkeys in its password management system, so users must also enable their iCloud Keychain.
Then, their Apple ID must be configured to use two-factor authentication. This month, TikTok will begin expanding passkey functionality to a number of locations in South America, Australia, Asia, and Africa.
The functionality will probably arrive in North America and on Android smartphones because the video-sharing service promised that it would eventually be accessible in other regions and on other operating systems.
Once a user has access to the login option on TikTok, they may activate it by navigating to their profile at the bottom of the app and then selecting Settings and Privacy from the Menu.
The setup screen can then be viewed by going to the Account option and then tapping the iCloud passkey.
