LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A Nigerian national, identified as Abiodun Victor Olawunmi, has reportedly died in the custody of South African Police in Johannesburg.
A Sandton, Gauteng-based Nigerian man from Oyo State, Edward Sunday, revealed this in a Facebook post. He wrote in a post: “Nigerian suffocated by South African Police.”
It was gathered that Police arrested the deceased on Saturday, 15 July, during a raid in Johannesburg Central and its environ by Minister of Police Bheki Cele.
Upon receiving news about the arrest, his brothers were said to have been preparing to go and see him at the police station when they got a call from an officer informing him of Abiodun’s death.
When the brothers got to the Johannesburg Central Police Station, they saw his lifeless body at the parking lot.
Meanwhile, photos posted by Nigerians in South Africa Facebook page, show Nigerians protesting over the death of Olawunmi.
