ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Governor of Benue State, Fr. Hyacinth Alia has condemned the attack by gunmen on Akpuuna and Diom communities in Ukum Local Government Area of the State.
There was an invasion of gunmen at Akpuuna and adjourning villages in the Ukum local government area of the state on Saturday. Punch reports that 24 people were killed during the attack.
Governor Alia in his condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo on Sunday, said that he was disappointed to receive the killing of innocent citizens by the bandits.
Also, the Governor advised the people of the Sankera axis to assist security agencies with useful information that will help put an end to insecurity in the area.
The Governor expressed total displeasure over what he described as a heinous crime and a grave sin against God and mankind.

“The Governor directs security agents to arrest those behind the unlawful act and bring them to book.
“The Governor sends his words of condolence to those whose loved ones were killed in the attack and prays to God to comfort them.
“The Governor calls for calm and advises the people of Sankera to assist security agencies with useful information that will help quell insecurity in the area,” the statement said.
