ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – No fewer than nine persons have lost their lives in different fire incidents that occurred in Kano state in June 2023, the Kano State Fire Service, has said.
The spokesperson for the state fire service, Saminu Abdullahi, who confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, noted that 26 persons were rescued from the fire incidents that happened within the month under review.
He added that property worth N6.7m was destroyed by fire in one month.
Also, Abdullahi said of the 22 fire emergency-related calls received by the agency in June, four were false, while 18 others were rescue calls.

He said: āNine lives were lost as recorded in June 2023.
“Under the leadership of the Director, Hassan Muhammad, the service in June 2023, received emergency calls from 27 fire stations across the state. We received fire calls, rescue calls and false alarms.
āNumbers of false alarms were four, estimated properties destroyed by fire disasters recorded from June 1 to 31, 2023, worth 6,700,500, estimated property saved by our men from different fire disasters is valued at N17,200,000.
āWe will seize this opportunity to advise the general public to handle fire with care to avoid inferno, as well as abide by the traffic law to avoid road accidents,” it said.
