IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Popular Nigerian Activist, Rinu Oduala, on Friday, shared a video of Police Officers crushing a man with their patrol bus in Ekpoma, Edo State.

Although the date when the incident occurred is yet to be ascertained, the video shows the victim’s hand and leg tied as he was made to lie on the floor.

Residents of the area were engaging the officers when the officer who was driving the bus, moved and climbed the victim. He stopped driving after the residents repeatedly yelled that the victim was under the car.

Oduala wrote: “Nigeria police officer runs over citizen with a car in Edo State. This is @PoliceNG policing.

“According to some witnesses, the police officers from Ekpoma division accosted him to check his phone, which he said no to, as this is unlawful.

“Then, they seized his phone, handcuffed him, and proceeded to take him to their station.

“Other passersby intervened and the police officers made to leave the scene without uncuffing him.

“In the middle of the back and forth, he laid on the ground and the police officer ran over him with the vehicle.

“After this, the police officers came down from the vehicle and ran away. EndSARS EndPoliceBrutality”

Reacting to the disturbing video, the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi said: “This is unpolice. I dont think a normal human being can do this. To crush a man with a car? This is unbelievable. I have personally contacted the CP Edo on this. We need to take urgent action on the matter. It’s strange to me as a person.”

A tweep @SamuelOgaba7 commented on Adejobi’s tweet and said: “Unpoliçe??? I’ve seen your men shoot someone for refusing to allow them take his bike….they foking shot him….seems like “mental-disorder”, stupidity and wickedness are criterias for joining the @PoliceNG because I just can’t understand…..”

Adejobi replied @SamuelOgaba7: “Speaking to issues is not the priority, in most cases. It’s the action taken. The PPRO Edo, Chidi, has acted on the matter. In fact he has identified the men. We will still comment further asap.”

In another tweet, Adejobi said: “If someone doesn’t speak on this twitter of a thing he doesn’t mean he is insensitive. After all if he has spoken, many here would have cursed him. So let him do what is the needful and talk less. Actions have been taken and we shall react as and when due. My opinion.”

The video which is currently trending on social media platforms has garnered reactions from more Nigerians.

@OnomeOddo also tweeted: “I saw that part when he came down and ran away. How did they let him get away with this? Gosh! This is crazy.”

@Belfatkol01 reacted, “Even if the guy did something bad or wrong , this isn’t worthy – @PoliceNG”

@kuro_godspower also commented: “They should have caught all the policemen involved and let jungle justice ⚖️ take its turn.”

@iamMaxObasi on his part said: “This is “attempted murder”. These officers should be arrested, charged and prosecuted. This impunity is too much. I can’t believe my eyes 👀”
