ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed that all Police patrol vehicles must obey traffic rules and regulations.
This is part of efforts by the Police to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties of citizens in the country.
Egbetokun gave the order during a strategic meeting with Squadron Commanders of the Police Mobile Force, PMF, and Special Protection Unit, SPU, on Monday, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking at the meeting, he emphasized that the maintenance of law and order and the protection of lives, properties are the primary duties of the Police.
He noted that the Police Officers must strictly adhere to the code of conduct of the Police and conduct themselves in a manner that would command them respect from the public.
Egbetokun further charged the force to tackle banditry, kidnapping, insurgency and other security threats affecting the country.
He revealed that a special committee headed by the DIG Operations had been set up to that effect.
