LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Steven Gerrard has insisted that he won’t take the top position at Al-Ettifaq after “analyzing” the rich offer from the Saudi club.
The former Liverpool captain is still available for hire despite being fired by Premier League team Aston Villa last October as a result of a succession of unsuccessful performances.
Gerrard was asked by Al-Ettifaq to serve as their new manager in an effort to take advantage of the situation.
After carefully weighing his options, the former England international chose to decline the rich offer. He traveled to Saudi Arabia to discuss the offer in more detail.
He told Channel 4, “They invited me over to take a look at a possible deal, so I did. The past few days have been spent in analysis of it. But as things are, I won’t be accepting that offer,”

Additionally, Gerrard was mentioned in connection with Leicester City after Dean Smith was fired following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
Enzo Maresca, an Italian coach, was hired by the Foxes last week after deciding to quit his position as Manchester City’s assistant coach in order to take on a fresh challenge at the King Power Stadium.
Gerrard has only managed Villa to one victory in his past nine Premier League games in charge, thus he is currently seeking for a chance to restart his management career.
