LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Ailing Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has handed over affairs of the State to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and embarked on a medical leave.
According to the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Olamide Oladiji, who confirmed the development on Tuesday, the Governor asked for a 21-day leave for medical treatment abroad. It will span from 7 June to 6 July.
Reports say the leave will be extended to 6 July due to the public holidays on 12 June (Democracy Day) and Eid el Kabir on 28 and 29 June, 2023.
The Speaker informed that the Governor’s letter stated that his deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would act as acting Governor for the period he will be away.
Recall that he was reportedly flown to Germany a few weeks ago and returned to the country, but has been unable to make appearances at public functions.
This development led to people rumoring that he had died, but his wife, Betty, debunked the rumors, saying her husband was alive and well.
