LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A Nigerian technology training company, Dataleum, has been named the West African regional winner of this year’s Global Startup Awards Africa.
The Global Startup Awards Africa is a forum for showcasing and growing the most promising firms in Africa.
Specifically, organizations that support Web 3.0 technologies, sustainable business models, green innovation, and workplace diversity were given specific attention in this year’s competition, which focused on solutions for agriculture, climate change, business, healthcare, education, and transportation & logistics.
In the West African region, Dataleum won the Ed-Tech division.
Dataleum’s chief executive officer, Bode Roberts, commented on the honor by saying, “Six months ago, we earned the ‘Startup of the Year Award,’ given by Art of Technology Lagos and the Lagos State Government.
“Now, we have solidified our effect footprints by standing in for all of West Africa.
“This award honors our tenacity, commitment, enthusiasm, and technical skill, all of which have made a substantial contribution to the development of the African digital ecosystem.”
The tech company initially participated at the national level before moving on to become a regional finalist, it will now fight for the GSA Africa continental championship at the continental finals.
The final batch of companies will also get the chance to showcase their innovative concepts at the GSA Grand Finale, right alongside some of the most well-known business figures and ecosystem builders worldwide.
In a statement expressing excitement for this year’s competition, Jo Griffiths, a co-founder of GSA Africa, said: “The esteemed panel of judges was astounded by the exceptional quality and diverse range of solutions originating from all corners of the continent, aimed at addressing some of the most pressing challenges.”
