ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Okezie Ikpeazu, the outgoing Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu has formally dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC).
Ikpeazu who is also the Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governor’s Forum (PDPGF), made known the dissolution in a press release issued by Mr Onyebuchi Ememanka, his Chief Press Secretary.
This follows the expiration of his two term of eight years on Monday 29 May, 2023.
Recall that Alex Otti, an ex-bank chief and the Labour Party Gubernatorial candidate in Abia state, was declared the winner of the recently-conducted election after polling a total of 175, 467 votes cast to beat his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahiwe, who scored 88,529 votes.

While earlier addressing SEC members earlier during the council’s last meeting which took place at the New Government House, Umuahia, on Sunday, Governor Ikpeazu appreciated council members for their dedication to service and diligence in carrying out their assignments.
According to the release by his spokesman: “the Governor stated that while he will share with members of the council the successes of his administration, he will accept responsibility for their failures.
“He wished them well in their future endeavors”.
Furthermore, the outgoing Governor remembered members of the council who died in active service, mentioning his first Chief of Staff, late Chief Chijioke Nwakodo and Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr Ukpai Agwu Ukpai and former State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Solomon Ogunji respectively, among others.
In another development, Governor Ikpeazu, on Sunday, commissioned Faulks Road Aba, and renamed it after the first civilian Governor of old Imo State, Dr Sam Onunaka Mbakwe.
