ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, is already a beehive of activities, ahead of the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu scheduled for Monday, 29 May.
Voiceofnaija.ng’s correspondents in town observed that apart from security measures being put in place at the Eagle Square, venue of the event, the roads leading to the centre are being gradually cordoned off by security operatives.
Even though activities leading to the Inauguration started early this week, the countdown to the main event did not reach its climax until Sunday evening, when many more people besieged the Federal Capital to catch a glimpse of their President.

As at Sunday evening, security operatives had been sighted at specific junctions in Wuse II, especially the roads leading to the venue of the Inauguration, while Police Officers were seen closing up on vehicles.

Vehicular movement had also begun to reduce in the area, even though more people were thronging into the vicinity ahead of Monday’s epoch making event.
Worse was the hotel situation within the metropolis, as all the hotels around seemed to have been filled to their capacities.
In fact, hotels outside Wuse II and the Central Business District in the Federal Capital had been fully booked as some guests appeared stranded.

“Oga, we no see hotel o. Even if na Lugbe, we no mind o, everywhere don full like this,” one of the guests in town jokingly told our correspondent in pidgin.
Another who came in from Lagos, noted that they wouldn’t even mind squatting with residents of the town, provided they’re able to stay overnight to witness the inauguration of Nigeria’s 16th President.
He said: “Bros, I’ll be very grateful if you can get us a place to pass the night. The stress from looking for hotels is getting out of hand.
“The last time I experienced something like this was during election, when many people came into our state, this is really crazy.”
As at 21:39hrs, our correspondent who was roving around town gathered that even the pubs have been filled up.
“We can’t even find a place to sit. All the pubs are filled up, damn,” noted one of the Nigerians in diaspora, who came all the way from the United States to witness Monday’s event.
Event from Nigeria’s President-elect, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inauguration will be reported as they unfold by this medium.
