ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has presented staffs of office to 31 Ezes-elect of various communities in the State.
While presenting the staffs of office to royal fathers at the Michael Okpara auditorium, the Governor charged them to maintain peace and protect the cultural values of their domains.
Ikpeazu, who was represented by his Deputy, Ude Oko Chukwu, noted that they are now duly recognized, having passed through every of the required process.
The Governor reminded the new traditional rulers of the need to ensure that issues like communal boundaries, farm lands and settlement of disputes are settled amicably to ensure that peace and order would reign in their various communities.
He used the forum to enjoin the monarchs to use their successful ascension to the throne to reach out to all and seek device where necessary to enable them succeed in their rulership.
On his part, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Christopher Enweremadu, advised the new Ezes to always maintain peace and order in their various communities.
He also commended Governor Ikpeazu for running the affairs of the State even at the tail end of his administration.
Responding on behalf of the monarchs, the traditional ruler of Ugwu Nkpa autonomous community in Bende LGA, Eze Princewill Onyegbu, thanked the Governor for recognition done them with the presentation of Staff of Office and promised that their various domains will enjoy a reign of peace and progress.
