LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen’s crucial goal for Napoli against Udinese has won the Napolitans their first Serie A title in 33 years. He also broke an existing record in the process.

The former Lille of France talisman scored the equalizer in the 52nd minute to cancel out Sandi Lovric’s 13th minute goal for the home team.

Napoli saw off the match, knowing that a draw was enough for them to be crowned kings of Italian football for the first time since legendary Diego Maradona won the title for them.

Osimhen’s 22nd goal of the current season makes him the highest goalscoring African player in a single football season, breaking Samuel Eto’o’s former record of 21 goals.

The former Wolfsburg FC forward also equaled George Weah’s tally of 46, making the Nigerian the joint highest scoring African ever in the Italian league.
