Award-winning Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, who served as the running mate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Abdulazeez Adediran, has deleted all contents related to politics from her Instagram page.

A quick perusal of the actress’s social media account by Tribune Online revealed that all images and posts from her political rallies and other campaign activities have been deleted.

This action comes on the heels of the PDP’s defeat to the incumbent governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in the keenly contested gubernatorial elections held on March 18, 2023.

Funke Akindele lost the Saturday gubernatorial election in her Ikorodu Local Government Area by a large margin to the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu-Olu.

Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress polled 64,697 votes far ahead of his closest rival,

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, of the Labour Party, polled 13,207 votes, while Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor) of the Peoples Democratic Party, came a distant third with only 3,797.

The actress voted at Ita Aro Square in the Ikorodu area of Lagos at about 10:12 a.m. on Saturday.
