LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A yet-to-be-identified man has lamented over a heap of shredded old naira notes found in a confined space amid the naira scarcity in Nigeria.
In the trending video posted on social media on 13 March, the voice from behind the camera was heard complaining about how old naira notes were shredded and thrown away.
Speaking in Pidgin English, the man said: “If you look closer now, you will see sey na money. Them grind money, See money. All these one na money, dem grind am.”
The video of the shredded and disposed old notes has sparked reactions on Twitter with many saying it is the most appropriate cause of action while others were lamenting the occurrence.
A tweep, @feezyleee said “Even the new naira notes will be shredded or briquetted when the time comes, it’s a normal practice worldwide, I know what to expect (insults), but you can also go read on what is done to unfit currencies in circulation”.
