ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the current hardship faced by Nigerians over the naira redesign policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Present Buhari, via his official Twitter account, begged Nigerians to exercise patience, saying the policy is for the good of the country.
“I am fully aware of the current hardship being faced as a result of some policies meant to bring overall improvement to the country. I’m appealing to you to exercise further patience as we take measures to ease these hardships. God willing, there is light at the end of the tunnel,” he tweeted.
However, Nigerians have reacted to his tweet. While some commended him, some others criticized him.
Popular Twitter commentator, @DanielRegha said: “Buhari u are asking Nigerians to exercise further patience but literally did nothing to tackle this naira scarcity before the 10th as promised earlier. The naira redesign policy is doin more harm than good cos many voters mayn’t see cash to travel & participate in the elections.”
In response to @DanielRegha, @WilliamsAdeba14 wrote: “Danel shut up, for the first time am supporting Buhari on this, we all need to exercise patience and face this hardship together, so that we can get fair election. Am sure there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
Another Twitter user @Buka720 wrote, “Buhari knows what he is doing and we should support him.”
Also, @SKYPRINCETECH1 said, “It is not buhari fault How come only Tinubu has 400billion of the new currency? Please help us to secure the future of your 4th generation @MBuhari ..we need a leader that can help us set our goals please.”
@Olisency replied him, saying: “You must not tweet unreasonably in every comment section just because you have the privilege to do so at all level. Use your IQ.
“Yes the Naira scarcity is hurting us all but believe me those criminals in politics are be hurt the most. The scarcity is to reduce the vote buying.”
