LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICEOFNAIJA)- Residents of Ore along Benin-Ore Expressway have staged a protest leading to disruption of socio-economic activities in that part of the country following the scarcity of fuel and naira notes.
With frowns, and frustrated looks, the residents barricaded the busy Benin-Ore expressway, while also lamenting the situation which has had a severe toll on their livelihood.
Travelers caught unawares by the protests have been stranded for hours as the protesters vowed not to open the road, a development which has caused the expressway to be blocked by vehicles and trucks.
One of the protesters identified as Bayo Oke, who spoke about the crises in the country, stated that Nigerians can no longer cope with the hardship ravaging the country.
He noted that it has now become extremely alarming and disturbing.
“We are protesting to send a message to the government, that we the masses are suffering.”
