The Chief of Mutum Biyu Chiefdom in Taraba State, Justice Sani Muhammed (rtd), has confirmed that the decomposed bodies of his two abducted wives and five children have been found.
The chief told Daily Trust correspondents on the telephone that the bodies were discovered early Saturday morning and would be buried at Mutumbiyu.
“The bodies of my family members killed by kidnappers was found and will be brought to Mutumbiyu,” he said.
It was gathered that the kidnappers invaded Muhammed’s residence in Jalingo, the state capital in January, 2023, and whisked the victims to an unknown destination.
A day after, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abdullahi Usman, confirmed the incident to Channels Television via a telephone interview.
Eight family members of the chief were abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers at his Jalingo residence two weeks ago.
Sources stated that the traditional leader was not in the compound when the incident occurred, but had been contacted by the abductors for ransom.
However, on Friday, the monarch confirmed that his wives and children have been killed.
However, a 14-year-old boy among the abducted family of the monarch escaped from the kidnappers two days ago and was taken to the palace.
