ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Oby Ezekwesili, the Former Minister of Education, has slammed Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over a post on his social media handle.

Atiku had on Monday, via his Twitter handle, claimed that he was the head of Nigeria’s economic management team during the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

According to the post, the presidential hopeful made the statement while speaking in Lagos on Monday during a meeting with the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG).

The post read: “As head of the economic management team while I was Vice President, I was instrumental in designing a private sector revival strategy and advocated for the opening of the economy for private sector investments in several sectors. And we made tremendous progress. #AtikuAtNESG.”

Reacting to the claim, Oby Ezekwesili, who was a Minister during the administration, called on Atiku to stop his social media handlers from misleading the public.

She wrote: “Dear former Vice President Atiku, please ask the handlers of your @Twitter account to stop misleading the public. You were never the Head of the Economic Management Team.

“This absurd Lie does you no good at all. Please ask your Team to stop it. Happy New Year. Wish you well.”
