A minor fire incident occurred at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in Abuja on Monday, 12 December, 2022.

In a statement released after the incident, the DHQ spokesperson, Jimmy Akpor, said the cause of the fire outbreak was unknown.

According to him, the fire incident occurred on the second floor of the building.

Akpor said the incident had been brought under control with the combined effort of the military and Federal Fire Service personnel and resources.

He said all personnel and civilian staff were evacuated without injury or loss of life.

“Accordingly, normalcy has returned,” he said, just as he noted that an investigation had commenced ascertaining the cause of the outbreak.

“We thank the Federal fire service and the entire public for the continued support and goodwill to the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” he said.
