IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, attended the Living Faith Church’s annual program, Shiloh, on Thursday, at Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State.
He was introduced by Pastor Abioye, the Vice President of Living Faith during the program and it was met by loud cheers from the congregation.
Since becoming a leading contender for the LP presidential nomination, Obi has made it a point to visit churches and speak with clergy.
The former Anambra State governor had visited Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries in Edo State.
He was at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, with Pastor Enoch Adeboye preaching.
In July, Obi had met with the founder of Living Faith Bible Church, David Oyedepo, at the church’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun State.
Also, Obi met with Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre.
The LP presidential flag bearer had also met with the Methodist Church community.
His recent visit to the Winners Chapel was met with praise and criticism by Nigerians.
A tweep, @gabreeladeremi said Obi attended Shiloh for of his political ambition.
“When was the last time he attended Shiloh? Election come we see am for church, God is watching those using the pulpit for political benefits.”
In the same vein, @DrKennPash backed @gabreeladeremi on his comment, saying: “Why should he go to Shiloh? Is he a member of Winners Chapel? It’s not out of place to visit the Christian body when he needs their support. In fact, I don’t expect him to go there next year because it’s not his church, he’s a catholic member. So stop wailing!”
NIYIK@ likened Obi’s presence at Shiloh 2022 to that of former president Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 who later lost the election to Muhammadu Buhari.
He wrote: “Jonathan. Also attended in 2014 failed at the end day.”
“As he failed, I hope you can still buy bread for your family?
“Hope you can still eat 3 square meal for you and your family?” @elonchorch said in reaction to NIYIK@’s tweet.
@drlord dug up a picture of the tweep, @NIYIK@ and said: “You wey life don tire already… Vote somebody that’ll bring you back to life, you say no…”
@oluwasegunzach1 tweeted: “More reason am not supporting him. Places he never visit he is now visiting them.”
@empire911 reacted to @oluwasegunzach1’s tweet: “Make proper research before talking there are videos of him in these churches before he even thought of running for president. And if he decide to visit all the churches he is free cause he is a Christian.”
