IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A commuter has raised an alarm over the insecurity encountered at Kaduna-Abuja road on Wednesday, 2 November.
According to a tweet shared by @Meg___omoako, she, alongside some other commuters, were “arrested” and thrown into a bus for no reason.
The tweep said the unknown gunmen “are stopping cars and taking passengers down”.
Meg called on the police to come to their aid as she isn’t familiar with the area.
In her own words: “We have been arrested and thrown into a bus for no reason, they are stopping cars and taking passengers down, @PoliceNG please kindly help along kaduna-Abuja road I can see alot of trailers parked here really don’t know the area please y’all help please”
Concerned Nigerians have since reacted to her tweets with some sharing their own ordeal when traveling.
A tweep @odogwu_zarus narrated his own encounter with seven unknown gunmen in Anambra.
He said: “Yesterday I was chased from umunya back to amawbia through the bad road. The stopped my vehicle on an expressway, no checkpoints. People dressed as spacs just saw my car coming .. immediately used their incoming vehicle to block my lane and tried to park me.. almost did. Till I noticed that there are about 7 men in a Sienna and another in a mini bus. The one who alighted to flag me down was carrying a rifle and crazy bears with alomo bitters bottle.. I slowed like I was stopping and entered the bad road driving back to where I was come from.
“This people chased me through the bad road.. I was driving like mad. James Bond .. got to amawbia junction they started shooting .. this happened yesterday… i slipped through a trailer that damaged my bumper And drifted under the bridge .. parked by the road side and jumped …..
“I’m a Keke.. went straight home called the IGP and my car was guarded and secured by OPs . I came back to where it was parked and they took me to the CPS to write a statement.. I nearly died yesterday.”
@Daddy_Zeeee on his part, wanted to know why people were still plying the road despite the numerous insecurity reports in the media.
“I don’t understand why people are still traveling on that road, there boss is tinubu running mate nothing police can do about it. Safe yourself.”
@Morrresearch also tweeted: “I still can’t believe some Corp members still accept call up letters to Kaduna. Like KADUNA STATE!? A state under siege, where both the FG and state government have resigned to fate.”
@Lanresoft, while reacting, also tweeted: “I’m scared of myself also. This year alone I have travelled and still traveling an average 150km per day. It’s how I am able to fend and feed love ones. I see a lot of crazy/unspeakable things on the road but still I’ve got no choice. The SOFT me is hardening gradually ☹️😢”
Another Twitter user, Sholexx said: “This explains how these kidnappers stop fast moving vehicles and kidnap people along Kaduna-Abuja express road.
“They disguise like security agents, stop cars, “arrest” people & move them to unknown location.
“Anyone who try to resist is being shot. This is so sad.”
@iambigswag also tweeted: “Does it mean the government can’t do anything about this kidnapping thing in the country? Pray you come out safe 😞”
