ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The apex Igbo socio-cultural Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has denied electing Livinus Obasi as its new National Youth Leader.
Alex Ogbonnia, the National Publicity Secretary, made the denial in Owerri, the Imo capital, on Monday.
According to him, though Damian Okafor was suspended by the National Executive Council (NEC), the body was working to settle the issues.
He said that the purported bye-election conducted to replace Okafor was null and void.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), quoted him as saying: “The said election lacks credibility and was neither approved nor supervised by us.
“The NEC is not aware of any by-election to replace Okafor. We refuse to recognise Obasi.”
The apex socio-cultural organization of the Igbo people is led by its President-General, Prof. George Obiozor.
