LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, has said the state government has commenced investigation into the nurses filming Rico Swavey’s last moments in Doreen hospital, Ajah, Lagos.
A 30-second video clip showing the final moments of a former reality TV star, Patrick Fakoya, aka Rico Swavey, at a hospital in Lagos State, has attracted condemnation from members of the public.
In the clip recorded by one of the nurses attending to Rico Swavey, the deceased was placed on oxygen as he was unconscious on a chair.
It was observed that the nurses were attempting to carry him on a bed when the nurse brought out a phone and started recording him.
Another nurse was heard cautioning her colleague against the act.
“You people should stop making the video; somebody is dying, you people are making video,” the nurse said.
Reacting to the video, a marketing strategist, Samuel Otigba, condemned the action of the nurses.
Using his verified Twitter handle, @SamuelOtigba, he wrote: “Anytime I watch that video of the nurses joking, laughing and making needless videos of Rico for social media instead of giving him the necessary urgent attention needed to save his life, my heart breaks over again cause he could have survived. RIP Rico.”
A director, Egai Eti, wrote: “This hospital should be closed and the license of those nurses should be seized.”
Nigerian tweeps have dragged Doreen hospital in Ajah to filth after it was revealed that the health attendants who laughed in the viral video worked in the hospital.
A Twitter user, @Teeworld_ revealed the name of the hospital.
The tweep said: “You guys the name of the hospital RICO died at is DOREEN HOSPITAL at AJAH!!
Y’all know what to do!!”
A tweep, prynxwill said: “Pls nobody should be going to Doreen hospital in Thomas estate in Ajah, it’s a death trap. I nearly lost my life there.”
@Fowoshere2 also wrote: “Doreen hospital in Thomas estate that hospital almost killed my pregnant wife when they gave her titanus injection when she was just 12 weeks pregnant… they succeeded in killing my unborn child … one of the worst hospital to use.”
Another tweep, dunni warned Nigerians to avoid the hospital especially during emergency.
She said she almost lost her life and child in the hospital.
In her words: “Please avoid Doreen Hospital at all cost especially during emergency. I could have lost my life and my child there.”

Reality TV star, Angel JB Smith narrates how she almost lost her life in the hospital.
She said: “Gonna speak on this because when I was unconscious at home, my friend rushed me here and let me tell y’all something, it was terrible. Nobody should be going to Doren in Ajah.
“I felt terrible for at least a week, only God knows what type of drugs they gave me😀 I could’ve gone to meet kobe true true.
“My grandmother and mother bundled me to another hospital, 0/10 lmfaooo and they wanted my granny to sign that if anything happened to me, it was on us not them lmfaooo”

“We took my mom there and she was placed on oxygen. No one was checking the oxygen level. We told them, do whatever it takes to keep her alive much longer. One morning oxygen finished, no spare oxygen upstairs. Before they could get another one from downstairs.”
