ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Ex-President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, is billed to visit Akwa Ibom State on Monday for the commissioning of the dualized 29km Etinan-Ndon Eyo road.
This is part of the activities to mark the 35th anniversary of the creation of the state.
The Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Research and Documentation, Mr Ndueso Essien, announced this to newsmen on Sunday during an inspection of the road project with two cable bridges.
The Etinan-Ndon-Eyo road was handled by a Chinese construction firm, Wizchino Engineering.
The road connects several communities in Etinan and Onna, Governor Udom Emmanuel’s hometown, with the East-West road and grants access to the industrial belt of the state.
Describing the nature of the road before, Essien said, “Ekpene Ukpa bridge was a nightmare, giving road users a horrendous experience.
“Several lives were lost on the old Ekpene Ukpa bridge, before Governor Emmanuel came to the rescue.”
