IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile on Friday, narrated how he stopped a driver from taking one-way by the edge of Third Mainland bridge.

He shared a video of someone in a Toyota Camry driving backwards as Akosile’s car faces it.

He tweeted, “I can’t understand why some people have boldness for criminal acts. I stopped this driver, taking one-way just by the edge of third mainland bridge. I made sure he reversed to face traffic. He was lucky that I was alone and the Task Force didn’t make it there on time.”

His tweet has garnered mixed reactions with some in support of what the press secretary did.

In a now-deleted tweet, a Twitter user called him out for using his phone to record while ensuring the motorist went back to pass another route.

The tweep said using his phone while driving us also a traffic offense.

In response to the tweep’s accusation, Akosile said, “Ori e ti gbale, wallahi!”

@_lifeofGbolahan: “But its not like he lied. You are infact breaking the law by operating your mobile phone whilst driving. Ori iwo gan gan lo gbale.”

@owenenuel: “Imagine the tout-like response from a public servant when being told the simple truth…..
You’d be worse if you were to be amongst the bus drivers driving the said one way!”

@iyketweets: “I actually wanted to commend you for such selfless act for helping the government to stop traffic illegality but for this response, you wouldn’t have gone that way. The person was right with that tweet. You were actually wrong but for a right purpose. Good job nonetheless.”

@teachteacherz: “Well, the guy is actually right. You could have parked and made sure he went back. You also committed an offense and recorded yourself doing it.”
