ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Delta State Police Command has revealed a new method used by fraudsters in defrauding operators of Point of Sale (POS) machines.
The police explained that fraudsters delete the actual amount they want to credit the operator and enter a far lesser amount before they enter their pin.
The spokesman of the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, made the revelation on Friday on his Twitter handle.
Edafe on his verified Twitter handle tweeted: “For POS operators, what criminals do is that, at the point of entering their pins, they delete the actual amount they want to withdraw and enter a far lesser amount before they enter the pin.
“For POS operators that is not smart, they just take the receipt without double checking.
“For example, they claim they want to withdraw N100,000, the POS operator enters the amount and passes the POS to them for their pin, instead of entering the pin, they go back, delete two zeros thereby reducing the amount to N1,000 print the receipt, collect the money and go.”
