ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)– The Delta State Government on Friday said it has commenced the 2022 set of Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme for about 525 youths in the state.

Prof Eric Eboh, the Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer in the state, disclosed this during the Orientation and Personal Effectiveness Training in Asaba, the state capital.

Eboh explained that 525 beneficiaries out of 12,161 represent four per cent of those who applied.

He noted that 3,500 persons had been pre-qualified for selection which represents 29 per cent of the total number of applications.

He said, “The six skills covered under the 2022 STEP Cycle include Catering and Confectionery, Tiling and Interlocking, Hairdressing and Braiding, Audio-Visual Services, Electrical and Solar Works and Top-Screed-making-painting.

“The training will be between four and five months starting from Thursday, 1 September, at the various skills centres where they will be posted”

“Since the Okowa-led administration, STEP and YAGEP under the job and wealth creation programme has produced a total of 6075 youths in Delta state since it’s inception in 2015”

He advised them to take the personal effectiveness training serious and learn to be organized as well as take responsibility for their actions if they must be successful in their business enterprises.

Prof. Eboh assured that Entrepreneurship and Business Management Training (EBMT) was part of the training they would receive under the programme.
