LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Adamawa State Government has<\/a> allocated the sum N2.4 billion to cover the registration fees for final year secondary school students sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examination Council (NECO).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Mr. Humwashi Wonisikou, revealed this to pressmen in Yola on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, “Our administration is fully committed and determined to ease the burden of the payment of the fees on parents.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wonisikou assured that the initiative would be sustained, emphasising that education is paramount for development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to covering examination fees, the Adamawa State Government disclosed that it has released over N500 million for scholarship allowances benefiting indigenous students enrolled in tertiary institutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFurthermore, the Fintiri-led administration has extended its assistance beyond education by disbursing N50,000 each to 10,000 women and youth. This financial aid aims to empower recipients to engage in small-scale businesses and farming activities, particularly in light of the recent removal of fuel subsidies<\/em>,\u201d Wonisikou said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wonisikou explained that the grant distribution would occur in phases, with another 10,000 youth set to benefit from the scheme in the coming months.
