OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The 2024 summer transfer window in the Premier League and Scottish Premiership is officially open.
The window will close on August 30 at 11pm UK time in England and at 11.30pm in Scotland.
The Premier League and Scottish Premiership brought forward Deadline Day to link up with the other major leagues in Europe. The closing dates were set following discussions with the leagues in England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France.
Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema have already kicked off the window in spectacular fashion, and more of football’s biggest stars could also be on the move this off-season.
Chelsea sign Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester
Chelsea have signed midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester for £30m.
The 25-year-old joins new Blues manager Enzo Maresca in swapping the King Power Stadium for Stamford Bridge this summer.
Dewsbury-Hall scored 12 Championship goals and registered 14 assists under Maresca last season.
Heaton signs new one-year deal at Man Utd

Tom Heaton has signed a new one-year deal with Manchester United.
The 38-year-old goalkeeper came through the ranks at Old Trafford and, after spells with Cardiff, Bristol City, Burnley and Aston Villa, returned to the club in 2021.
Heaton has won three England caps and is currently working as a training goalkeeper with Gareth Southgate’s squad at Euro 2024.
Heaton is doing his coaching badges but still feels able to compete at the highest level, with the goalkeeper staying at United to compete with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.
Heaton told club media: “I am delighted to continue my stay at my boyhood club.
“I still feel in great shape and I am ready to offer whatever the squad needs throughout the season ahead.
“In addition to on the pitch, I’m learning so much off it for my next steps, whatever that may be. But, first and foremost, I want to push the squad to build on our successes from last season.” He added.
Leeds midfielder Gyabi rejoins Plymouth on loan
Leeds United midfielder Darko Gyabi has joined Plymouth Argyle on loan for the season.
The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Argyle.
The midfielder links up with Wayne Rooney as the former England captain prepares for another Championship season.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has announced his Leicester exit ahead of a £30m move to Chelsea.
Larsen- Wolves have made Norwegian international striker Jorgen Strand Larsen the latest addition to Gary O’Neil’s squad on a season-long loan deal.
The 24-year-old arrived in Wolverhampton to complete his medical at Compton Park on Monday and finalised a loan move from Celta Vigo which will automatically become permanent until 2029 should certain clauses be triggered.
Manchester City are reportedly advancing on a deal to sign 15-year-old midfield talent Harrison Miles after his contract at Southampton expired.
The England Under-16 captain has also been targeted by other leading Premier League clubs including Arsenal, but the Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that City are close to a formal agreement.

Wolfsburg’s Netherlands international Dominique Janssen, 29, has signed a two-year contract with Man Utd, with an option of a further 12 months at the WSL club.
Jansen reveal this in an interview. He said: “I’m delighted to be at such a big club like Manchester United. Signing here is a really proud moment for me, and I cannot wait to now return to the English league and create new winning moments with this talented Manchester United team.”
Aguilera leaves Forest for Rio Ave
Brandon Aguilera has completed a permanent transfer from Nottingham Forest to Portuguese side Rio Ave.
The 21-year-old joined Forest in July 2022, making his debut in the Carabao Cup against Burnley in August 2023.
He made his Premier League debut against Brentford in January.
The youngster has had loan spells at Guanacasteca, Estoril and Bristol Rovers – where he won goal of the season for a strike against Exeter City.
The attacking midfielder has captained Costa Rica at youth level and became one of his nation’s youngest players to feature at a World Cup in 2022.
He is a regular for his country, starting against both Brazil and Colombia at the Copa America.
