ANAMBRA, Nigeria (VOICE PF NAIJA)- Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Obono Itam has expressed dismay over illegal detention and assault on suspects, mob actions, illegal security levy and other abnormalities among vigilantes groups in communities across the state.
Speaking during an interactive session with Vigilantes groups and relevant security outfits in the State, the CP advised security operatives not to allow themselves to be used against one another, especially on the community they are expected to protect.
He proposed creation of State Policing Model anchored on platform of the Police Community Policing Committee comprising all security outfits to police the State and to ensure harmonization of intelligence information sharing.

He also restated his plan of an all-inclusive policing system to hear from those that would assist security agencies in enforcing the law and maintaining public order and safety in the State.
While commending Vigilantes and security outfits for their commitment, dedication, and selfless service in assisting the Police to nip crime in the bud in the State, Itam pledged greater cooperation of officers and men of the Command to legitimate and recognized security outfits in the State.
Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy, Hon Tony Collins Nwabunne thanked the CP for the engagement, noting that the meeting was the first of its kind in the state, just as he solicited for continuous engagements.
The security operatives who expressed satisfaction with the engagement, stated their concerns which were addressed by the Police boss.
In attendance were Management Team of the Police Command, State and Zonal Chairman PCRC, Rep. of the Director State Security Department Awka, Hunters Association of Nigeria, Rep. of the National President of Town Union Association in the State, Rep of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Members of Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) among others.
